HACKER SAFE is a certification available from ScanAlert. The technology acts like a "Super Hacker," conducting a daily security scan of every known vulnerability that hackers could exploit to ensure they can't steal visitors’ private information from the web sites where they shop or register. The scan audits HACKER SAFE sites every day using over 10,000 different security tests. These tests are based on hacker activity information collected every 15 minutes from hundreds of private and governmental sources worldwide. When ScanAlert™ finds any holes that could allow hackers to steal site visitors’ personal information, it notifies Inforonics with instructions on how to secure the site.
According to the Better Business Bureau, 70% of small businesses view information security as a top priority. Interestingly, of the 80% who believe their online environment is secure, 56% have experienced at least one security breach in the past year. Preventative measures are needed to avoid menacing problems such as spyware, viruses and data loss. In the wake of an overabundance of media coverage, consumers are becoming more sophisticated in their choice of online transactions to evade identity theft, credit card scams and illegal acquisition of personal financial data.
Inforonics released the news of its HACKER SAFE certification on July 26th, 2006. The certification is for the Inforonics infrastructure and corporate web site. The managed hosting provider can now offer this certification to its clients who range from industries such as real estate and pharmaceuticals to e-commerce and Software as a Service (SaaS) providers.
"Perfect security is impossible, but continual scanning for new vulnerabilities and monitoring for new threats are critical and a much better investment than to passively sit back and wait to detect attacks. In security, the best defense is a good offence, and the more offensive you can be, the more secure you will be." - Victor Wheatman, Managing VP Security, Gartner Group
