History The name Inforonics is a marriage of the words "information" and "electronics." Founded in 1962 by MIT graduate Larry Buckland, Inforonics built its business developing and maintaining complex IT infrastructures. In 1975 Inforonics created one of the first data publishing and retrieval systems, serving organizations such as the US Library of Congress and the Boston Public Library.
Early on, Inforonics was a nationally recognized leader in the development and maintenance of library automation systems and completed extensive information analyses for several large organizations including the IBM Research Lab. Inforonics designed and developed some of the earliest web sites on the Internet and emerged as a leader in outsourced IT services during the 1990's touting such giants as Thomas Register, MCI and Pfizer as key accounts.
